Volunteers Keep Saguaro National Park Clean During Government Shut Down
Since the government shut down began on December 22nd, Friends has coordinated over 30 volunteers to help pick up trash at the visitor centers, trail heads and picnic areas at Saguaro National Park. Those successful efforts have now concluded. On Tuesday January 8th, the National Park Service authorized Saguaro National Park to use fee money to pay for trash pick-up and to maintain the vault toilets at trail heads for the duration of the shut down. These tasks are being completed by our NextGen Ranger interns who work in Facilities Maintenance at the Park.
Thank you to all of our volunteers for your time, effort and willingness to step-in and help keep our Park clean during the shut down.
Gratefully,
Fred Stula
